Ryan Gasser is from a small town outside of Youngstown, Ohio called Hubbard where he grew up in love with sports of all kinds, but especially baseball. He began his experience in sport when he moved to Swainsboro, GA for 5 years, where he picked up a baseball glove for the first time.
When coming back to Ohio, he continued to play baseball and while practicing in his back yard would mock broadcasts of Cleveland Indian and Atlanta Brave baseball games. He also did so while watching professional sports on TV and playing his favorite video games Madden Football, Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball, and Triple Play Baseball.
Ryan went to Hubbard High School, in Hubbard, Ohio where he was a four-year member of the school's baseball team playing any position he was given a chance to play. A shoulder injury took him off the mound, but he gained his footing and established himself as a very good utility player playing 6 different positions on the diamond. He was a varsity letter-winner in his last three years, where he was a stand out base runner with his quick first step and overall speed. He graduated in the top 15% of his high school class of over 220 and was an honors graduate and a member of the National Honors Society, among many other clubs he participated in. He also played summer baseball for the Youngstown Babe Ruth League for three years, winning a league title and runner-up title. He then returned to the Hubbard Community League for his remaining 3 years of eligibility with Mid-Land Title where the team then went on to make the playoffs for the first time in Hubbard history and would then go on to win back-to-back runner-up titles. Ryan then went on to coach the same team he played for and was head signal caller and third base coach for the Mid-Land Title, again winning league runner-up honors.
Ryan came to BGSU in pursuit of a recognizable sport management program and to find out exactly what he wanted to do in life. As a fourth-year sport communication major, he intends to learn more about becoming a sports information director, management positions in sport, and after stumbling upon the BGRSO early in his freshman year, dabble in sport broadcasting.
He doesn't have much spare time with all the duties that come with his position in the BGRSO, but when he does he enjoys listening to a wide variety of music and watching some of his favorite TV shows (listed below). He still likes to keep his bat fresh and go to local batting cages, and if you're lucky, you may see him around BG when the night-life gets hot. Ryan also works at the WBGU-PBS studio in Bowling Green for the Northwest Ohio Educational Technologies Foundation and in the summer serves as an umpire for youth baseball in Bowling Green, Waterville, and Haskins.
He came to the BGRSO in Fall 2004 and in his tenure has served as "OTL Director" (2005), Director of Sales (2006), and now currently serves as the Executive Director and returns for his second stint as softball coordinator.
Ryan would like to thank his parents, Christina and Scott, and younger sister, Corrie, for their never-ending support.

Biggest Thing Ryan Will Take
Away from
BGRSO: |
The importance of organization and planning ahead. I've learned so much about how to manage people and an organization that this experience will serve as valuable experience in my professional development. The people I work with within the BGRSO are phenomenal, and I wouldn't trade them or their friendships for anything. |
